Senior Programmer / Technical Lead

Academic Benchmarks is currently adding a new position - Senior Programmer / Technical Lead - to our growing team in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Senior Programmer will perform all phases of development analysis and design. Essential duties include designing, testing, and debugging programs and consulting with internal users and clients on program needs. The Senior Programmer is responsible for:

  • Developing exceptional technology that offers clients dynamic solutions and Academic Benchmarks a competitive edge.
  • Managing day-to-day project activities in order to reach project objectives.
  • Problem solving technical issues that are barriers to team members executing strategy and meeting performance objectives.
  • Creating satisfied clients, internally and externally, by providing superior technical consultation and guidance.

Requirements

Qualified candidates should have strong management and interpersonal skills as well as:

  • 5 - 10 years of programming and web development experience,
  • a Bachelors' degree in a related field or equivalent knowledge gained through work experience,
  • minimum 5 years experience with web scripting languages (PERL, PHP, Python or Ruby), web 2.0 technologies (such as Web APIs, Ajax, HTML, XML and RSS) and SQL - we also prefer experience with Catalyst, jQuery, CSS, YUI, Embperl and JAVA , but is not required,
  • innate ability to understand client needs and design to meet those needs
  • excellent communication and people skills
  • capable of working both independently and in a team environment
  • keen problem solving skills with ability to handle complex issues
  • project management experience
