Academic Benchmarks was conceived on the idea that every stakeholder of K-12 education should have access to up-to-date standards and easy-to-use tools that work from the most granular level to help schools, teachers, and companies align their curriculum, assessment, instruction, and reporting efforts to those standards

The Academic Benchmarks story emerges from the industry’s need to find a solution to the challenge each stakeholder in K-12 education is bound to address: learning and performance standards. These standards have emerged as the driving force in the legislative mandate for accountability to the results of classroom instruction and a major influence on how each stakeholder performs their respective role in K-12 education.

Since 2004, leading companies and Education Service Agencies have individually selected the Academic Benchmarks identification protocol to more effectively connect their content and products to the standards. These organizations soon recognized that the common language, applied to advance their own internal operations, also provided the infrastructure by which they could connect with others who also adopt the protocol. Strategic partnerships emerged with greater efficiency and impact than ever before.
